Troop 12 Rules

All Scouts are expected to follow, to the best of their ability, the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. The achievement of this goal is reviewed by the Scoutmaster before each advancement award is given.

If Scouts cannot attend a troop meeting they should notify their Patrol Leader. If an extended period of absence at troop meetings is expected then the Scout should discuss it with the Scoutmaster.

Scouts are expected to wear their uniforms to troop meetings. If a Scout has another function prior to the troop meeting he is expected to bring his uniform shirt to change into before attending the meeting. Wearing the neckerchief at troop meetings is optional but it is required at all formal functions such as courts-of-honor, Scout Sunday, Scout dinners etc.

Brothers will usually be assigned to separate patrols in order to encourage individual development.

Each Scout must have an up-to-date copy of the medical disclosure form on file with the troop. This form, completed by the Scout's parents, informs the Scoutmaster of any individual medical situation, which could be of importance during a troop activity. Parents are requested to update the form whenever changes occur and during the first meeting in September of each year.

The Scoutmaster must be notified if any pills or other medications are being used by a Scout during any outdoor activity.

The use of the Rocky Pond beach is a privilege restricted to active troop members and their families. All other use of the facility must be decided on a case-by-case basis by the Troop Committee.

Parents are always invited to attend troop courts-of-honor, and at least one parent is expected to attend when their son is receiving an award.

Each patrol is responsible for providing at least one adult for supervision on campouts. Patrols may share adult supervision but the ratio may not be more than 8 Scouts per adult. Although this requirement is usually not a problem, patrols that are unable to meet it may not be allowed to go on the campout.

Each patrol is expected to provide its own transportation for all outings.
